Trivia / Will You Snail?

Go To

  • Descended Creator: The game's developer, Jonas Tyroller, voiced Squid.
  • Inspiration for the Work: Jonas initially wanted to create a rage game that was as frustrating as humanly possible. He also wanted to explore the idea of simulations and what could happen if an AI really became all-powerful. His main inspirations were Portal, The Talos Principle and Outer Wilds. Squid was inspired by internet trolls and schoolyard bullies.
  • Line to God: Jonas has an official Youtube, Twitter, and Reddit, and can also be found in the game's official steam discussions and discord group.
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content: There are several fan-submitted color schemes and translations that Jonas officially added to the game. He's even made official guides on how to make your own color schemes, translations, and audio dubs. He has stated that he would be potentially interested in adding more fan-created color schemes/translations/dubs to the official game if they are of high quality and well-received by the game's community.
  • Schedule Slip: Will You Snail? was first envisioned as a short rage game that would take only a few weeks to develop. Once it became a full-fledged project, the game was originally meant to release in spring or summer of 2020. Things only kept snowballing from there.
  • Screwed by the Lawyers: Before the game was even released, Jonas accepted numerous translations contributed by the community (over 200 translators on board!). However, when development on the game started to wrap up, Jonas was informed by his lawyer that because of how he handled the translations, most of them would have to be discarded unless ALL translators involved signed a licensing agreement with Jonas himself. Even worse, if they were under legal age, they had to sign it with their parents. Thankfully, more than 50 translators were able to sign and they recovered as much as they could.
  • Trolling Creator: The reason all the difficulties are easy? Because Jonas Tyroller wanted to tell people they couldn't beat his game on easy.
  • What Could Have Been: You can view a lot of scrapped content and ideas here and in Jonas' old devlogs on his youtube channel.
  • Working Title: The game was known as "Goodbye AI" when it was first conceptualized.
