  • Cross-Generation Video Game: It released on both the NES and its successor, the SNES, in 1994.
  • End of an Age: It was the final officially licensed video game released for the NES in North America. As such, it's the only one of these games to have an ESRB rating.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: While the NES version continues to get rereleased on modern platforms (including the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo 3DS and Wii U's Virtual Console and Nintendo Switch's Nintendo Switch Online), the only way you can legally play the SNES version currently is by having the original cartridge for the SNES.
  • No Export for You: The NES version got a Japanese release, but not the SNES version. Despite this, the SNES version got a couple of versions exclusive to the Japan-only Satellaview's broadcasts.
