  • IRIS' eye symbol has made many appearances in other mods, before IRIS itself was even properly established in the weekend update.
    • The Tricky Mod: In the final cutscene after Demon Tricky gets teleported away by some unknown entity, the Auditor's security footage of the events suddenly gets cut off by static followed by the eye symbol, leaving even him confused.
    • QT Mod: In an earlier version of the mod, during Boyfriend's battle with the killer robot within QT, KB, the monitors around both of them display the eye symbol. As the later established IRIS has nothing to do with QT's story, it was replaced with a Suspiciously Similar Substitute in an update.
  • The Festival week for Doki Doki Takeover! features a remix of "Glitcher" sung by Monika, with the Plus update having an unlockable costume for her based on Hex himself.
• Refitted for Sequel: "Detected" was originally planned to be a bonus song like "Encore", but was later reworked to be part of another update as a main week song.
• What Could Have Been: The Gallery reveals some initial concepts that were ultimately changed.
  • Hex's personality was wildly different from the final version, being a narcissistic robot who thinks that robots are superior to humans. His shirt also had a 1 rather than 16, perhaps referencing this narcissist nature.
  • Hex's poses were originally going to be more dynamic, but as Hex's sprites went over Daddy Dearest's sprite sheet, they had to be tone downed so it would function correctly.
  • YingYang48 had initially considered making the virus that infected Hex some powerful botnet, but "wasn't feeling it too much", and the concept was eventually worked into IRIS.
• Word of Gay: YingYang48 has stated that Hex is pansexual.
• Word of God: YingYang98 has stated quite a bit about Hex through various sources:
  • Hex was originally created to be a companion for Richard Guy, an incredibly wealthy but lonely man. The CEO of the company he commissioned to make Hex terminated their contract with him after realizing he could use Hex for profit, but fortunately for Hex, he was placed next to a window and gained enough energy to escape, miraculously running into Richard. The two enjoyed many years together, and Rich left his fortune to Hex when he passed away.
  • Hex runs on some version of Windows.
  • There are jacks in the back of Hex's head, so one could theoretically hook up a controller and play games on him.
  • He's best friends with Whitty and is also friends with Carol.
  • Hex is a big fan of Hatsune Miku. According to the Gallery, the creator saw Hex's cameo in Miku's own mod and got the idea from that.
• Writing by the Seat of Your Pants: When the mod was originally conceptualized, YingYang48 had no idea what the virus that infected Hex actually was, and only came up with IRIS later after toying with a few different concepts.
