Trivia / Vale's Underground

  • Reality Subtext: The writer admits that Chapter 11's title — "In Need of a New Game Plan" — has some of this. They mentioned that the chapter turned out very differently from what was initially intended and they needed to take some time to rethink certain plot details before continuing.
  • Schedule Slip: The gap between Chapters 17 and 18 was about six months. This is the same amount of time the first 16 chapters were written.
  • What Could Have Been: According to the author, many things about the story were changed while writing it. For some specific examples:
    • Many events of Chapter 14 were initially intended to happen during Chapter 12. (Likely referring to Tyrian's capture and The Reveal about Cinder and Salem's pasts.)
    • Chapter 14 would have featured more of the debate, but the writer wanted to get the chapter out sooner.
    • Neon Katt would've had an Adaptational Name Change to have "Neon Katt" be a nickname. However, after finding a singer whose name was actually "Neon" and finding that "Katt" is a real surname, the idea was dropped and Neon kept her name.
    • If Little Miss was introduced earlier when the story was still developing, she would have had a larger role.
  • Word of God: The writer tends to provide "fun facts" in the endnotes of every chapter to explain various details of the Alternate Universe. Many details from the main page are taken from those notes.
