- California Doubling: Some Peru scenes were filmed in Hawaii.
- The Cast Showoff:
- Actors capable of speaking in both English and Spanish deliver dialogue in both languages. Oscar Isaac has bragged that this movie boasts more lines of Spanish dialogue than any he filmed before.
- Catfish helps swim Redfly's body bag over to the getaway boat, and is played by a former competitive swimmer, who skipped the insurance-mandated swimming lessons held before filming this scene.
- Killed by Request: The first draft killed off someone unimportant, until Ben Affleck suggested that his character die instead.
- Production Posse: Triple Frontier is the second film of director J.C. Chandor to star Oscar Isaac, after A Most Violent Year.
- Real Life Writes the Plot: An interesting case where this movie caused this for another. Jay and Silent Bob Reboot was filming about the same time as the press tour for this film. It was during said press tour that Ben Affleck expressed interest in that film, and was subsequently flown out for a scene.
- Saved from Development Hell: The film project dates back to 2010. Paramount Pictures was set to produce, then dropped the ball. Atlas Entertainment picked it up and did nothing with it either. It was eventually greenlit in 2017 when Netflix bought the rights to the script.
- Those Two Actors: It's the third film to star Oscar Isaac and Garrett Hedlund after Inside Llewyn Davis and 2015's Mojave.
- What Could Have Been:
- The project was first going to be called Sleeping Dogs, and was to be directed by Kathryn Bigelow.
- The likes of Tom Hanks, Will Smith, Johnny Depp, Mark Wahlberg, Channing Tatum, Tom Hardy and Mahershala Ali were initially tapped to star in it before dropping out.
