Trivia / Transformers: The Game (Console)

Go To

  • Christmas Rushed: One of the game's developers discussed on Game Hut that this was very much an issue.
  • Dummied Out:
    • The game's coding includes mentions of finishers, more attacks, an electrocution attack for the forklift drones, and even unlockable characters of some sortnote . The PC version's ReadMe file also mentions the ability to unlock arenas by beating those unlocked after the main story, but in the final game there's only one arena for each side. In addition, the Mixmaster/Cement Truck Drones would have been even harder to beat, being able to redirect or ricochet the player's projectiles back at them and being able to make and fire cement projectiles and having a stronger version of their counter ability.
    • Ratchet, Brawl and Bonecrusher have animations and attributes, meaning they can made playable - though as they are unfinished, their camerawork and models lack polish, with Ratchet in particular being largely unplayable.
    • There are also several unused levels, such as the famous Hoover Dam exterior which was cut for time constraints. One version of "The Suburbs" played with Blackout and an unfinished level where you go around Tranquility as Bumblebee and throw around giant donuts can still be accessed in the PC version with some editing, though they have nothing of note within them.
  • The Original Darrin: After being voiced by Hugo Weaving in the film, Megatron is voiced here by Frank Welker for the first time since 1986.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • The Autobots (with the exception of Optimus Prime) and most of the Decepticons follow suit:
    • Jazz: Darius McCrary to Andrew Kishino
    • Ironhide: Jess Harnell to Mark Ryan (Bumblebee's movie actor)
    • Ratchet: Robert Foxworth to Fred Tatasciore
    • Bonecrusher: Jimmie Wood to Daniel Riordan (who also voices Shockwave)
    • Barricade: Harnell to Keith David
    • Starscream: Charlie Adler to Daniel Ross (who had already voiced the treacherous Decepticon in several Transformers fan projects and the only surviving fragment of the All Hail Megatron motion comic.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Leaked game files, as well as promotional videos of the game prior to release, indicated that there was originally going to be a level set in the Hoover Dam for both the Autobot and Decepticon campaigns. The reason for this level not being implemented was mainly due to time constraints on the developers' part, due to Activision wanting the game released around the same time as the movie came out.
      • The text file that contains every written word in the game still has dialogue and objectives for the cut levels. The Autobot version was largely played as Prime, and featured both Bonecrusher and Brawl as bosses (Jazz originally died here which is what happens in the DS Decepticon version) and one mission required him to try to knock Megatron off the dam. The Decepticon version consisted mostly of them trying to blow the thing up, then chasing Bumblebee (indicating that he had survived his boss battle) and eventually wiping the place off the map.
    • Modifying mission scripts to load Bonecrusher or Brawl as the Player Character shows evidence that at least some work was made to make them playable. They reuse existing weapons but have their own animations for movement and transforming. Ratchet has some files that suggest he was meant to appear outside of cutscenes, but they're so unfinished it seems he was not a priority. He would have been able to heal fellow Autobots and drain health from enemies.
    • As seen on early versions of the game on the aforementioned Game Hut video, the "Destruction" meter was originally closer to a Karma Meter, although it still didn't affect anything. The DS version has this in the form of what enemies you encounter in free roam. The devs also considered making human NPCs killable, but decided against it.
