Trivia / Toontown: Corporate Clash

Go To

  • Approval of God: Someone asked Jesse Schell about Corporate Clash (and Tooniversal), with him praising how servers like Corporate Clash have their own identity.
  • Author's Saving Throw:
    • A small set of Cattlelog items in Toontown Online were stereotypically Native American-themed, like a teepee, a dream catcher, and a chair with feathers on it. When fans pointed out how culturally insensitive these are, the Corporate Clash Crew agreed, redesigning and renaming them to remove the connotations or, in the case of the dream catcher, replacing it entirely with a poster.
    • The Bossbot Golf Courses are reviled by fans for how long they take to complete, and you can waste over an hour on the longest one. In 2023, Corporate Clash updated to cut each course down: they went from 3, 6, and 9 holes to 2, 4, and 6, and you'll still get the same amount of rewards from each but not need to spend as much time on them.
  • Blooper: In spite of her honorifics being Mrs. on her Cogs.ink page (implying an unnamed partner), Stenographer is inconsistently referred to by the Litigator as both Mrs. and Ms. Case.
  • Creator Backlash: Sheriff Cranky, one of the members of the Corporate Clash Crew, has voiced his disapproval of Sads in the Corporate Clash Discord server. He stated how Sads as a character doesn't fit with the direction Corporate Clash is taking as well as the fact that his battle was more akin to an interactive meme than an actual replayable fight.
  • Cut Song:
  • Doing It for the Art: Corporate Clash is run at a loss for the creators, even refusing donations. They keep servers up just to keep the spirit of Toontown alive.
  • Dummied Out: All of the new (and reworked) managers in 1.3. have death animations, with a majority of them also having death sounds, though only a handful of manager Cogs actually use them, with most prefering to make their escape before exploding.
  • Follow the Leader:
    • Like Corporate Clash, Toontown Rewritten changed the C.E.O.'s phases to be based on health instead of time passing, as well as giving the facility supervisors unique appearances with special moves and personalities, which are similar to Corporate Clash's unique taskline, street, and kudos managers.
    • The inspiration seems to go both ways, as the Corporate Clash team announced the replacement of Front Three, the Middle Six and the Back Nine with three shorter facilities named the Silver Sprocket, Golden Gear and Diamond Dynamo soon after Rewritten announced a shake-up in facilities, specifically mentioning the Back Nine in them.
  • Schedule Slip: The 2023 April Toons' update was meant to come out in, well, April. Due to circumstances, however, it ended up being pushed back and becoming MAYpril Toons.
  • What Could Have Been: The Backstage: Corporate Clash blogposts reveal quite a lot of scrapped ideas for the game.
    • Judging from removed face-off lines, Barristers were originally supposed to be themed around bears. However, this was changed, likely due to the team not wanting to have too many animal-based Cogs.
    • Older versions of the redesigned Lawbot HQ were revealed in a blogpost, including an old Lawficenote  lobby where there were searchlights and spilling oil which Toons could slide down.
    • During Project Altis, a lot of the Boardbots looked quite different. Most noteably, Toxic Managers had a completely different head and had the buff build, whilst Big Fish were modelled after catfish. The Boardbots also had a different suit, completely lacking a tie.
  • Word of Gay: The Pacesetter and the Firestarter have been confirmed to be in a relationship. See this tweet from lead writer Maven.
