Trivia / Three Men and a Baby

  • Development Hell: A third movie, tentatively titled Three Men and a Bride, has been listed as "in development" for some time with no actual progress.
  • Directed by Cast Member: The Canadian French dub for both movies was directed by Vincent Davy, who also voiced Peter Mitchell.
  • Fake Brit: American Nancy Travis as Sylvia, Mary's mother.
  • Never Work with Children or Animals: Toward the end of filming, the babies that played Mary were less entranced by the actors around her, and became more interested in the microphone. She would start to follow it with her gaze, and not look at the actors. Leonard Nimoy and other crew members had to start hiding the microphone and disguising it from the baby's view.
  • Pop-Culture Urban Legends: When Jack's mother comes to visit Mary, you can see in the background what appeared to be a little boy standing in a doorway. There is a rumor that this is the ghost of a little boy who died in the apartment in which the film was shot. This rumor is false, as the interiors were all shot on a soundstage in a movie studio. The "ghost" is actually a cardboard cut-out of Jack wearing a tuxedo. This prop appeared later in the movie, when Mary's mother comes to collect her.
  • Sleeper Hit: It became the highest grossing film of 1987, taking in $167 million (the equivalent of over $394 million in 2021) on just a $11 million budget.
