• Reality Subtext: The author is a trans woman, just like Luz is in this fic, and has alluded to having been molested in their youth. The sexual trauma many of the characters endure is similar to the authors' own experiences.
• Recurring Fanon Character: Lucia Noceda and Amelia Blight, Luz and Amity's Original Character older siblings based on their Beta designs, have appeared in numerous other fanfics before this one.
• What Could Have Been: The author stated that Boscha was going to be a much more major character. She was at one point meant to have a fight with Luz at Hexside, but this was cut because the author didn't want to focus on school drama. Boscha was also planned to force herself on Amity during the New Year's Party, but this was cut for being OOC and detracting from the horror of the Siren Hotel.
