Trivia / The Wayans Bros.

Go To

  • Adored by the Network: BET loved airing marathons of it in the 2000s, as did VH1 in the mid-to-late 2010s.
  • The Danza:
    • Shawn and Marlon Wayans as Shawn and Marlon Williams.
    • Pops' actual name is "John," and is portrayed by John Witherspoon.
  • Dawson Casting: Dee stated that she was 38 in one Season 3 episode. In reality, Anna Maria Horsford was 10 years older at the time.
  • Edited for Syndication: When the show was added to Max in 2021, Warner Bros. were unable to clear the license for "Electric Relaxation" from A Tribe Called Quest, so the theme from the first two seasons was replaced by a generic R&B tune that was also used on the prior DVD releases.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes:
    • Even though the first and second seasons are the only ones available on authorized DVDs, all five of them had been broadcast several times by Viacom networks such as MTV2 and Centric over the times. As of 2017, seasons three, four, and five have been released on DVD.
    • Due to a licensing quirk, only television broadcasts of the first two seasons still use "Electric Relaxation" from A Tribe Called Quest. Both the DVD and Max releases use a generic R&B tune instead.
  • Real Song Theme Tune: For the first two seasons, the show used A Tribe Called Quest's "Electric Relaxation" as the opening theme tune.
  • You Look Familiar: Garrett Morris appears in "Goop-Hair-It-Is" As Himself for a cameo (being the first celebrity that Shawn and Marlon tried to get to sell their new product). Morris reappears later that season in "The Poppa-Cabana" as Uncle Leon.
