• Sleeper Hit: Made on a budget of $1 million, The Sword and the Sorcerer grossed nearly $40 million at the box office, making it the most profitable independent film of 1982.
• The Other Darrin: Richard Moll only played Xusia in the opening scene, because he had a bad reaction to the contact lenses and was sent to the hospital. Xusia's other scenes at the end of the movie were done by a stand-in and later dubbed by Moll.
• The Other Marty: Oliver Reed recorded a voiceover narration, but the producers were dissatisfied with the quality and replaced him with Simon MacCorkindale. And not helping was the fact that being Oliver Reed, he showed up to the set drunk and trashed the production office.
