- Even Better Prequel: Scherfig had already written about the final fate of two of the pupils, Amsted and Mogensen, in The Missing Bureaucrat from 1938. The Missing Bureaucrat is also considered a classic in Danish literature, but most people consider The Stolen Spring to be the better book.
