Trivia / The Smelly Mystery

• Abandonware: This game has been out of print for a long time now, and will not work on any operating systems higher than Windows XP or Mac OS 9. Mercer Mayer uploaded the first three pages of this game onto his YouTube channel, but nothing else official relating with this game has been done since. You can still see amateur play-throughs of it on YouTube, however.
• Acting for Two:
  • Little Monster and Detective Kerploppus are both voiced by animator Dave Sanangelo. It's more obvious when they sing than when they are speaking.
  • It's also fairly obvious that Ickky and Jerry Bombanat are both voiced by the same person.
• Cross-Dressing Voices: Mrs. Yalapappus is voiced by game staff member Matt Rossetti, and numerous other background female characters are voiced by males.
• Dawson Casting: All the kids in this game are voiced by adults, and as a result their voices sound very mature and adult-like.
• The Other Darrin: This game and Living Books's Little Monster at School had entirely different interpretations of the characters. On the Living Books release, most of the characters sounded like young kids and were energetic, whereas here they have rather deep voices and are much more easy-going. It's also a bit weird to see Little Monster's pet Kerploppus go from acting like a dog (as in Little Monster at School and in the actual books) to becoming a talking anthropomorphic character (sounding like Sean Connery, no less!) just like everyone else in the game.
