Trivia / The Simpsons S6E22 "'Round Springfield"

Go To

  • The Cast Showoff: Yeardley Smith proves to have some serious pipes during Lisa's rendition of "Jazzman".
  • Creator Backlash: The staff regretted the "Cheese-eating surrender monkeys" gag when people used it against France for not getting involved in the 2003 Iraq war.
  • Technology Marches On:
    • Lisa's subplot couldn't happen these days, as Lisa would easily be able to find Bleeding Gums Murphy's only album on websites like CraigsList, eBay, or available on torrent sites — unless it was really rare to find.
    • The station would also likely have access to it on a streaming service, like Spotify or Apple Music.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The table draft dated October 13, 1994 reveals that in the "Nobody is really gone, as long as we remember them" scene, instead of Homer recommending that Lisa get a tattoo to preserve Murphy's memory, he would instead have the following dialogue that would culminate with his Parental Abandonment issues surfacing (though this would later be contradicted by "Mother Simpson" in that he grew up believing his mother died while he was at the movies):
Homer: Like when I was a boy, there was this woman. I forget her name, but she was nice and made me food. We had a bond.
      Marge: You mean, your mother?
Homer: (Hysterical) Oh, Mom! Why did you leave me! (Beats his fists against the wall) Why? Why? Why?
    • An alternate ending can be found on the season 6 DVD. In it, Ned Flanders prays to God for Howard Stern to get taken off the air. After his prayers are answered when Murphy's music takes over the airwaves, he then asks God to do something about "the blasphemous Fox Network", after which the episode was meant to end by dissolving into static.
