• What Could Have Been:
  • The Homer head was originally going to follow the ball more accurately. However, this feature was already patented by Williams Electronics for FunHouse (1990). So instead, it only follows the ball to a degree.
  • To avoid exceeding the budget, Stern didn't arrange for the voice actors of characters like Lisa (Yeardley Smith), Marge (Julie Kavner), and Mr. Burns (Harry Shearer) to record custom speech.
  • The Comic Book Guy target was originally designed to kick back balls to the upper right flipper for extra shots; thus allowing the player to accumulate several hurry-ups at once. Unfortunately, it was nixed by budget cuts—an outcome which programmer Keith Johnson still resents to this day.
