• Ascended Fanon: While it's long been rumored Chu Hing intended for the Green Turtle to be Chinese, no one has ever been able to find out for certain. Yang makes it canon.
• Writer Revolt: In the afterword, Yang speculates that Chu Hing, the Green Turtle's original creator, was forbidden to make the character Chinese. In response, he hid the character's face to keep his race ambiguous. Yang also theorizes that, in response, the publisher made the Green Turtle's skin a bright pink to emphasize his whiteness.
