• Hostility on the Set: As production for The Night Strangler began to wrap, director Dan Curtis (best known as the creator of Dark Shadows, who had also produced the preceding film The Night Stalker) began directing undeserved anger towards the crew, which led Darren McGavin to confront Curtis before deciding to quit, saying, "You've got enough film. Make your movie. Goodbye." Lingering tension between Curtis and McGavin led to the production on the planned third Kolchak movie, The Night Killers, stagnating and ultimately evolving into the Kolchak: The Night Stalker series (without Curtis's involvement).
