- Adaptation Overdosed: Easily one of the most adapted and reimagined comic book storylines of all time. While it would have one straight adaptation in Batman: The Long Halloween in 2021, The Dark Knight Trilogy and The Batman (2022) draw heavily from it, with a generous dose of Adaptation Amalgamation with other popular Batman storylines like The Killing Joke.

- Shrug of God: Fans are divided on whether to take the twist ending in the final pages literally, or just write it off as the rantings of a delusional person. Jeph Loeb has refused to say which interpretation is correct, claiming the answer "is in the text". The film and the special issue eventually cleared this up by revealing that Gilda really did commit the original Holiday murders.
