  • Saved from Development Hell: Mikaela planned the comic in multiple forms for years, with its current form being in production for at least three. Nothing happened with it for two years until its original artist Olivia hand-painted the prologue. Then another year of nothing and her having to drop out. Lore Cox joined as artist in March 2016, and the comic began for real that September.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Link and Mike are confirmed as an Official Couple at the beginning of Chapter 2, but as recently as Chapter 1's script, Scholl originally planned for any romantic relationship to be implied. The only demonstrable relationship would have been of lifelong best friends who act Like an Old Married Couple, and them actually being married would be an offhand surprise reveal. While they still are best friends, Scholl felt a happy queer couple shouldn't have to be a "surprise" and decided to make it formal canon by the time he began writing Chapter 2, and to dial their affection up to 10.
    • Similarly, Mikaela confirmed in a podcast that Mike is a transgender man, and this too was going to be kept a secret until a surprise reveal late in the comic. This was the plan all the way through Chapter 2's script, but Mikaela decided that perpetuating the often-transphobic Gender Reveal trope had no place in the comic, so it will be openly confirmed in Chapter 3 and thereafter be basic, unsurprising fact.
    • In Chapter 2, Sheik's introduction has him jump down onto a mugger and scare him off by stabbing the ground beside him. Sheik was originally going to stab the mugger's chest and kill him, and this was set all the way up to Lore sketching the page, but then Austin thought that this would make it much less believable for Link and Mike to trust Sheik if that was their first impression of him.
