- Actor Allusion:
- John Larroquette is a recovered alcoholic himself.
- In one episode he finds himself joining in when two bus riding Trekkies insist on speaking Klingon.
- Executive Meddling: The show's tone was lightened after the first season largely due to this. Despite getting positive reception from critics, the season didn't get very good ratings; Partially because it was up against ratings darling Roseanne, and partially because Larroquette thought the show was too dark for a prime-time slot. The show was nearly cancelled, until Larroquette was given the chance to retool the show to make it less dark. It worked.
- I Want You to Meet an Old Friend of Mine:
- "John's Lucky Day" features a guest spot by Charlie Robinson, John's former Night Court co-star. Harry Anderson later turns up in "Cosmetic Perjury."
- John Diehl, who appeared with Larroquette in Stripes, played Chris in five episodes.
- Missing Episode: The show was abruptly Cut Short halfway through the fourth season. As a result, the second half of the season did not air during the show's original run on NBC. They would later be shown on the USA Network in the early 2000s.
- Working Title: Crossroads. NBC had it changed trying to bank on Larroquette's popularity, having just gotten off from Night Court.
