• Dyeing for Your Art: Song Kang-ho's black hair was given blond highlights to play someone who's apparently not very bright.
• Multiple Languages, Same Voice Actor: Paul Lazar, who played the American doctor operating on Gang-du, not only played the role in English but dubbed himself in the German dub.
• Production Nickname: "Steve Buscemi" for the monster.
• Production Posse: A few of Bong's regulars feature in the film: Song Kang-ho, Byun Hee-bong, Bae Doo-na, Park Hae-il and Yoon Je-moon.
• Bae Doo-na trained in archery especially for the film, while Park Hae-il, Song Kang-ho and Byun Hee-bong learned how to fire rifles.
