  • Completely Different Title: Japan: The Killer Comes Quietly

    • Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight was heavily inspired by this film. The interactions between Warren, Ruth, Mannix and Domergue on the stagecoach in the opening of the film are lifted from the scene with Silence, Loco and Burnett on the stagecoach.
    • The Someguy Series of mods for Fallout: New Vegas has essentially what is the closest to a video game adaptation the film will ever have with stuff like the snowy setting, attire modeled after what Loco and Silence wear, dialogue options to not speak like Silence, and even the melancholic ending.
  • Revised Ending: The filmmakers shot an alternate "happy ending" to earn the movie a release in some foreign markets, particularly South Africa, where strict censorship laws mitigated against such a bleak conclusion. In this version, Silence is rescued from Loco's gang by the arrival of Sheriff Burnett, who somehow survived being dumped into an icy lake, and Silence kills Loco, revealing that he was wearing armor-plated gloves that deflected Loco's bullets, fired into his hands. Silence also appears to speak, despite being established as a mute whose vocal chords were destroyed by his childhood injury. Film historians doubt whether any release versions of the film actually used this ending, even in the markets for which it was ostensibly shot, though it's available as an extra on Silence's home video releases.
