• Award Category Fraud: Attempted. Despite being the clear leading man with a role equal to Elle Fanning, Nicholas Hoult was submitted as a supporting actor at the Emmys for Season 1. But he didn't get nominated. By the time of the Golden Globes he was repositioned for awards as a lead actor, where he then made the cut.
• Cancellation: In August 2023, the series' cancellation was announced, ending its run at three seasons.
• Fake Brit: While the series is set in Russia, the cast is made up almost exclusively of British actors who use their own accents. As such, the American Elle Fanning also does one as well.
• Playing Their Own Twin: In the second season, Peter employs multiple Body Doubles. The one who best resembles him, Pugachev, is played by Hoult himself with a set of bad teeth.
• Writing by the Seat of Your Pants: Tony writes the season as he goes along and watches the actors do their work. Notably, Peter was just meant to be a Hate Sink with the premise "Catherine The Great with a shitty husband who dies early on", but Hoult was credited with making him more likable than he should be, and that spurred on Character Development with an Alas, Poor Villain moment in season three.
