Trivia / The First Omen

Go To

  • Dueling Works: The First Omen released two weeks after Immaculate: March 22nd vs April 5th, 2024. Both are horror movies about young American nuns who come to Italy in order to join a remote convent and become embroiled in plots to birth the Antichrist, though the conspirators in the latter film believed they were engineering the Second Coming.
  • Saved from Development Hell: Initially announced (complete with director) in 2016, the script and story were repeatedly rewritten by multiple writers, from The Conjuring scribes Chad and Corey Hayes, to novelist Gillian Flynn, during which the announced director left the project, and production stalled until a new director was found.
  • Sequel Gap: Released 18 years after the last film (not counting the 2016 short-lived television series). It's also a direct prequel to the original film and came out 48 years later.
  • The Other Darrin: All the returning characters from the first film have been recast, since most of the principal cast have since passed away.
  • What Could Have Been: When the first was first announced in 2016, The Devil All the Time director Antonio Campos was attached to direct. However, Campos eventually parted "amicably" from the project, and television director Arkasha Stevenson joined the project instead.
  • Word of God: According to Arkasha Stevenson, Damien's sister is named Layla.
