Trivia / The Brittas Empire S5E8: The Last Day

• Torch the Franchise and Run: After five seasons the writers of The Brittas Empire were done with the series, so this episode (originally the Grand Finale) ended by killing Gordon Brittas. Due to the series' popularity, the BBC continued it for another two seasons under different writers.
• Uncredited Role: Jonathon Norriss as Ben Parkinson, John Carrigan as Patrick and Kevin Hudson as a squash player.
• What Could Have Been: The episode was intended to have ended with Brittas remaining dead, with the final scene being him bickering with St. Peter over the keys to The Pearly Gates. As a consequence, this would have made it the final episode in the series. However, the popularity of Brittas meant that the BBC wanted another series, so the ending was revised to make it so that Brittas came Back from the Dead.
