• California Doubling: The racetrack featured in the plot is Pacific Raceways, located in Kent, WA. However, all the racing scenes were shot at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario, as neither the Pirelli World Challenge or the Weathertech SportsCar Championship (as cars from both series are featured in the film) have Pacific Raceways on their calendar.
• Saved from Development Hell: The Film of the Book was first announced in 2009 when Universal Pictures acquired the rights to it. However, they struggled to find a director for the film and ultimately gave the rights to Disney in 2016. One year later, the rights were passed again to 20th Century Fox, where the film was finally put into production and released in August of 2019.
• What Could Have Been: In early drafts, Enzo was named "Juan Pablo".
