Trivia / The Animals of Farthing Wood

Go To

  • Acting for Two: There are seven regular VA's: Rupert Farley (Fox, Mr Hare, Mr Pheasant), Ron Moody (Badger, Toad, Whistler, Bully), Jeremy Barrett (Mole, Measly, Rabbit, Bold, Friendly), Jon Glover (Scarface, Ranger, The Warden), Sally Grace (Owl, Weasel, Charmer), Stacey Jefferson (Vixen, Adder, Kestrel and Mrses Hare and Rabbit) and Pamela Keevilkral (Speedy, Whisper, Cleo, Fido, Mrs. Squirrel).
  • Bad Export for You: The series has been released... after 15 years, and not in England but abroad! The only way to get them is the first season in French, and the first and second season in Germany (the German version has an English version embedded). No commercials of any kind have been made about the release, and most fans do not know the series has been released yet.
    • The show had a grand total of one American trailer. It was a preview from a VHS of FernGully 2: The Magical Rescue, a movie that's pretty obscure in it's own right, so not a lot of people saw. What's more, it was under a different name, Journey Home: The Animals Of Farthing Wood. Fox was supposed to be voiced by Ralph Macchio, so there just might be an American dub somewhere.
      • Indeed there is. The first season was abridged for American audiences as a 78-minute film. Several characters were redubbed, including Fox, Adder, and Weasel. On top of that, several musical numbers were added.
    • A Region-Free, English, DVD of all 3 seasons was released in October 2016
    • The first season was on Norwegian TV almost every day for about 3 years. They were shown out of order.
    • Before the series was released on DVD, the only way to watch it was from somebody's VHS home recording uploaded on Youtube and on a Torrent. The quality was so bad there were loads of distortions, grain and other issues on them. To top it off, viewers actually thought the human characters didn't have faces.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes:
    • The series was released on 27th May 2011 in a German + English set (Season 1 and 2). So watching the series in Europe is possible, but if you're not living in Europe, you'll either have to watch it online or own a region free DVD player to watch it officially.
    • The German version has been released on DVD, as was the French first season.
    • The Dutch version is considered to be lost, or being kept by the NPO (Netherlands Broadcasting Station), the channel that showed the series in the Netherlands.
  • Reclusive Artist: The surviving actors and crew members of the show have made no public appearances, nor have granted any interviews at all. This is likely the reason why the show has virtually no public behind the scenes material. Jeremy Barrett, Pamela Keevil Kral, and Stacey Jefferson haven't been heard of since after retiring when the show came to an end.
  • Recursive Adaptation: The popularity of the TV show led to Reed Children's Books doing a series of abridged storybook adaptations of the cartoon's episodes from the first two seasons under their Buzz Books subtitle. That's right, novelizations of a cartoon based on novels.
  • Unspecified Role Credit: The actors are credited without their character roles. It also does not help that due to the fact the show does not have a public cast list of who voiced who, it is presumably why the show is not present on Behind the Voice Actors.
