• Author Appeal: It's been noted by a number of critics that the tone of Nick Spencer's writing and even the significant story beats have taken inspiration from J.M. DeMatteis' work on the character from the 80s and 90s. This is most evident in the writing of Kraven the Hunter and Kindred which contains wholesale references to his stories.
• Executive Meddling: In a comic book panel in August 2022, C. B. Cebluski revealed that Marvel's editorial department had meddled with the ending of Spencer's run, with comments indicating that he'd prevented him from having Peter and MJ hook up again. A comment from Dan Slott a year later confirmed this was the case as Spencer had been gunning to undo One More Day but the meddling forced him to instead undo Sins Past.
• Shown Their Work: Spencer revealed in interviews that upon getting the gig, he reread every single issue of Amazing and its ancillary titles published up to that point in preparation.
