Heartwarming / The Amazing Spider-Man (2018)

Go To

  • Spider-Man admitting to Peter (long story) that he got him fair and square after his supposedly weaker self manages to trick him into merging back into a complete superhero.
  • Peter is initially not pleased with having Boomerang as a roommate. But after Boomerang saves Peter from some supervillains and Peter learns just how lonely Boomerang is, he warms up to him an outing he and Randy have on Sundays.
  • Black Cat admitting that her Faceā€“Heel Turn wasn't all the result of Doctor Octopus as Spider-Man hurting her, but that it had started a long time ago. She tearfully tells Spider-Man that she knows they used to be very, very close, but she doesn't know his name or what his face looks like under the mask. Peter comes clean about the events of One More Day/Brand New Day, takes off his mask and tells Cat his name. Then, when he gets to MJ's, he explains to her what had happened and that he did it to reconnect with and support Felicia as a friend and nothing more, and MJ is not jealous in the slightest, understanding that Peter's a good influence and Felicia and Peter needs someone like Felicia to share his superhero life with. And the reason MJ is so cool with this? At the Lookups meeting, she shared her fears that she wasn't good enough for Peter, that he needed someone in his life who could share in all of it, superheroics included, someone he could form a Battle Couple with (intercut with panels of Spider-Man and Black Cat thrashing the Thieves' Guild), but Jarvis (who runs the group) assured MJ that the normalcy and grounding she provides is just as, if not more, valuable.
  • Issue #16 (HU): The Black Cat has agreed to track down the Owl in exchange for squaring a debt with Hammerhead. She finds the Owl being held in a building were the captured Billy Connors is also being held. She promises to come back for Billy as soon as she finds the Owl, while secretly thinking to herself that she'll just alert other heroes to Billy's location once finds the Owl. However, when she learns that Taskmaster and Black Ant are planning to move Billy, Black Cat abandons her original objective to save the boy.
  • Issue #20:
    • Black Ant of all people gets one when he talks Spider-Man out of going too far and killing one of the hunters.
    • Black Cat doing everything she can to keep Billy safe, even taking a blast meant for the boy.
    • The above also leads to another moment for the hunter drone operator who fired the shot. When he sees Billy is just a boy, he quits the game entirely as he thought they would be hunting villains not little children.
  • Randy and Aunt May are having trouble rebuilding and reopening the FEAST center as the city won't give them the permits. Eventually a group of thugs show up on orders to rebuild it with May telling Randy that a high powered attorney named Janice Lincoln threatened to sue the city if they weren't given the permits to reopen and that she'd like to have lunch with the both of them. Cue Randy looking up to see Beetle waving to him from a rooftop.
  • Issue #21:
    • The Lizard comes to Black Cat and Billy's rescue, defeating the Last Son of Kraven.
    • Spider-Man rebuking Kraven's nihilistic views on humanity, pointing out that while people are indeed very flawed, there is still much good in the world and Spider-Man will always be there to protect his loved ones from monsters like Kraven. This actually gets to the Hunter who realizes the error of his ways and finally understands Spider-Man. He then orders Arcade to deactivate the hunter drones and turn off the force field keeping everyone trapped in Central Park.
  • Issue #25:
    • Spider-Man tracks down Dr. Connors to a bunker he has locked himself in out of fear he is a danger to his family and convinces him to return to them. When Curt returns home, his son gives him a hug.
    • Peter is about to apologize to MJ for missing their date, but she kisses him and shows him that she doesn't mind at all.
  • Issue #39: Jameson writes an article that exposes a SHIELD cover up that would have made Spider-Man look like a villain. Spider-Man is angry at this because he promised sister Teresa that the operation would be kept secret. Spider-Man blows up at Jameson and tells him to stop helping him. However, Norah reveals that Jameson only joined her news company if they agreed to acknowledge Spider-Man as the hero he is. Spider-Man feels bad for his reaction and agrees to an interview.
  • Issue #40: In the previous issue, Jameson and Spider-Man got into an argument over their previous feud which was interrupted by the villain Chance. After Spider-Man fights off Chance, Spider-Man and Jameson continue their interview and see each other in a new light of sorts.
  • Issue #42: Peter deciding to adopt Gog, sensing a connection the two share over having lost loved ones in the past.
  • Issue #54 (LR): While MJ's tirade against Norman is filled with very justified venom, she also says that she still wants to help Harry because he is her friend.
  • Issue #60: After Peter's traumatic battle with Kindred, Mary Jane takes him to an empty theatre whose owner she is friends with, and encourages Peter to just let all his thoughts and anger out, and say all the things he wants to say to Harry as if he was right there. When Peter's done, MJ cradles him as he weeps, showing once again how well she supports him.
  • Issue #66: Despite retaining their mutual hatred of each other and making it clear they won't hesitate to take the other down if it comes to it, Robbie and Tombstone decide to call a truce for the sake of their children who are dating.
    • There is something rather humanizing about Tombstone's love a music lounge, especially given it's the same lounge Robbie also has a soft spot for.
  • Issue #74:
    • Peter telling the dying Sarah and Gabe that even though they aren't really Gwen's children she would have loved them just the same.
    • While visiting Uncle Ben's grave, Peter runs into Dave Sullivan, an old neighbor and friend of Ben's whom he tried to help with a drinking problem. Although it took some time, Dave did eventually get sober and reconciled with his wife and daughter. He drops by Ben's grave to pay his respect and show him his one-year sobriety chip. He also tells Peter that his uncle truly was a good man who made a difference to people, even if he wasn't rich or powerful, which does make Peter feel better about the choices he has made.
