Trivia / Sweet Jade and Hella John

Go To

  • Creator Backlash: Not only does Fan not really like the comic, but he stopped liking it towards the middle, and even lightly admitted that he wanted to wrap up the plot as soon as possible back in Act Two Act Two. (The reason why it took so long was because he also wanted to cover everything and still end it in the way he found the most fitting.)
  • Shrug of God: Great Pikmin Fan himself is unsure as to what the hell the Shipping Intermission is supposed to symbolize outside of foreshadowing a few events later on in the comic. He also confirmes a few times that occasionally he just makes stuff up about the story.
  • Teasing Creator: Mild example: The fan fic endlessly teases-but-they-aren't-a-couple-yet Prospitcest during the first few acts. Jade and Jude even almost kiss Jean at one point, before John brings up his relationship with Nepeta. But because of the polygamy-issue, Jean and Jade were now this close to being a couple in this fan fic. And then this happens. The two finally do get together at the absolute very end. Word of God says that it was really more like throwing a bone for making so many John/Jade jokes so much and the pairing having a comparativley small following; he outright says that if it was more popular he would have ended the comic with their them not working out or with them ending their entire friendship just so he could fake-brag that he sunk John/Jade in more pages than canon did.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • If the doodles during the Unite/Synchonize set of updates is any indication, Elitaa was supposed to be Jane's original patron troll, and Equius and Nepeta were going to share the role of John's. However, as revealed in Act 2 Intermission 1, Pikmin Fan simply stopped liking the idea of Elitaa and decided to make her unnotable, with John's patron apparantly being only Nepeta and Jane's being Equius. (Also, there was the concern of the elephant in the room that is Elitaa looking like a hybrid of John and Jade, with this hybrid developing a romantic intrest with their individual inspritation's canon ectomother.)
    • Pikmin Fan stated that the war arc was to go in a completely different direction than it is now. For one, the classmates were supposed to be involved more.
    • Dave was originally going to undergo a heroic sacrifice — if Hecksing Ulumate Crconikals would be any indication, it is likley that he was meant to be some sort of Alucard expy. However, the dialogue was written so that either making Dave an antagonist or having him run away are the only viable options that came to Pikmin Fan's mind at the time, so he went with the former due to finding it more interesting.
    • In the very first ending planned, the kids were all set to live and it would end with them all playing Ed, Edd n Eddy: The Mis-Edventures together. Other ideas for endings include Jade still being kissed only she falls down the stairs afterward resulting in what would be the comic's sole true SBAHJ reference, Jake being the one John kisses instead, still falling down the stairs, or a rather in depth-plan with the Tricksters taking over the world and Tricksterizing everyone, ending with a shot of Vampire Dave in Hell looking at the events in horror, and Emoghost/Carrie appearing behind him shouting "AINT I A DICK?" for starting the Tricksterizing in the first place.
    • As revealed in the closing notes, this entire comic was originally supposed to be a drawn set of side-stories to a set of "intermissions" that would appear in certain chapters to other SBIG works, and it's just that he liked the idea of starting a fanventure so much he went with publishing SJAHJ first. However, he did not like the writing of said intermissions, and his fanfiction.net profile implied some the general ideas and concepts in them would make their way into Housestuck Hurrcain Crconikals (which really shows seeing as it's currently the most explicit instalment, which isn't saying much) while Sweet Jade and Hella John itself gained a completely new identity.
    • Rip's azure motif was originally supposed to represent how her bullets turn a bright blue when fired. Now, GPF says it represents the Ed, Edd n Eddy: The Mis Ed-ventures part in Major Quimby.
  • Word of God: Pikmin Fan had posted a heap of info as of March 20th, 2014, months after the comic ended. This includes:
    • That Sis was Crazy-Prepared for SD attacking again, explaining where the tank Roxy got came from.
    • The human's parents do share first names with their counterparts in Housestuck Hurrcain Crconikals, with the exception of swapped names when their genders call for it.
    • Lord Major Quimby is Stupid Evil, and Rip is just plain Ax-Crazy, hand waving most of their odder actions.
    • Carl did, in fact, try to "replace" Pip. Except it was because Pip died on an accident again, and Carl was simply trying to fill the void to Pip's friends. The eyepatch is an effective Paper-Thin Disguise.
    • This does not take place in the multiverse of Crconikals, or any of GPF's other works.
    • A Shrug of God about Steven Universe, since unlike Hellsing SU was not elaborated as to how it works in this world.
    • Pikmin Fan invoked No Swastikas because he thinks it's a forum rule. He also self-censored much of the dialogue, toned down some of Jade's words, and thought against teasing pairings that were related in canon. The last rule was thrown out of the window later.
    • Jade's characterization is based on both her OOC dipictions, and a way to try to top attempts at making Jade "open."
    • Nepetazilla did, in fact, go back to normal by the end. Her blood changed back to red. And the Leijons invoke Magic Pants to themselves. In an unrelated note, that tidbit also confirms that the monster near the beginning of Carl Stevens Universe is not an alternate version of Slender Aranea, just something that sort of looks like her.
    • John and Nepeta's breakup was partially done because he thought their relationship would feel very akward after real life events. He has yet to elaborate further. He also goes on to explain more about the future of a different work, 496 Reasons. He also gives another What Could Have Been: It was likely that Kanaya would still be alive and actually in a successful relationship had John and Nepeta stayed together, and instead of reviving Dirk (and Dirk being killed by Dave at one point) and Jenn, Jade's final two extra lives would have been used on Equius and Feferi instead, and they would have been with their patronies.
    • Many of the jokes regarding Nepeta and Meulin's last name was based on a misconception that it sounded exactly like "legion." This even showed up in the last page.
    • Elements that likely will reappear in future works of his. Among them are the Curse Woman, at least Omega Drew Pickles and Hydra, Adventure Time characters, GPF's self insert (who will get killed in every story he appears in), SJAHJ's dream mechanics, and someting regarding Hank and Rip. The Fox Crew is also confirmed to exist in some future state, and Fan is in fact contemplating a fan fic all about them. Well, a different incarnation of them with different members and not taking place in SJAHJ's world, that is.
    • Elements that likely won't reappear in future works of his. The three limebloods, Mike, Pikmin's Silencer (but he was planned to be in Onionstuck in a different form and without the evil), A2 ancestors without A1 ancestors (eg Succubus, Huntress, etc from Housestuck Hurrcain Crconikals, and maybe they'll get replaced by their canon incarnations if they are revealed before HHC ends (or even after)), Aranea and Meenah becoming more relevant than the other A1 trolls, a more casual atittude on referencing fanventures, and many of the characters being derailed to villains. He also said that SJAHJ will be the only SBIG installment with the interactivity it has, and not even its remake will be open for suggestions.
