Trivia / Star Trek Voyager S 5 E 5 Once Upon A Time

• Executive Meddling: Big time. The story was originally going to be very different, with Naomi being the point of view character; she's protected from a war instead of another shuttle crash plot. Michael Taylor submitted the script only for Rick Berman to veto it on the grounds that he didn't want wars going on on both DS9 and Voyager simultaneously. Taylor also wasn't given enough time to adequately rework this idea into something more palatable to Berman. This led to the episode being essentially written by committee, and Taylor's original idea of the whole story being through Naomi's point of view ended up lost.
• The Other Darrin: Scarlett Pomers takes over as Naomi Wildman as of this episode. Ethan Phillips joked at a con that they got rid of the original child actress because she "squirmed too much."
