Trivia / Star Trek: Picard S3E03 "Seventeen Seconds"

Go To

  • Character Outlives Actor: The now off-screen Odo due to the passing of RenĂ© Auberjonois just before the premiere of Picard.
  • Directed by Cast Member: Jonathan Frakes directs the first of his two episodes for Picard's final season (and this is also his 28th overall directorial contribution to the Star Trek franchise). In the Ready Room interview, Frakes also admits that due to the number of scenes Riker and Picard share this episode, Patrick Stewart was his ad-hoc Number Two director, much as Picard (the character) is for Riker.
    • On a related note, this is the first time since Star Trek: Insurrection that Jonathan Frakes directed himself in a Star Trek production.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: Downplayed example. While Worf references Odo to Raffi and implies Odo is still alive and well, DS9's beloved cantankerous Changeling doesn't actually appear or is involved in the investigation beyond passing on intel from off-screen (again due to the death of RenĂ© Auberjonois in December 2019).
  • Reality Subtext: A tragic instance with Picard telling Beverley that he knows now he would never have become like his father. Off-camera, of course, Patrick Stewart is an advocate against domestic violence due to his experiences with his own father.
