• Hide Your Pregnancy: By this point, Nana Visitor's pregnancy was far along enough that the show needed to start using this trope. As a result, Kira is played by a stunt double during the springball game and the scene where Eddington stuns her, and Visitor is shot from chest-up at all other times (barring only the shot of her walking into Garak's, where she and the camera are moving fast enough that her pregnancy isn't that obvious).
• Real Life Writes the Plot: Part of the catalyst for making Eddington a Maquis sympathizer and defector were internet rumors at the time that he was actually a Founder infiltrator. The Writers Room, upon hearing these rumors, vowed never to do that... but it did give them the idea to do something unexpected with Eddington that nobody would see coming. This was the end result.
• The Other Darrin: Tora Ziyal's original actress, Cyia Batten, is replaced by Tracy Middendorf for this episode — and only this episode, as she proved allergic to the required prosthetics, and herself had to be replaced by Melanie Smith during the following season.
• Word of God: According to Ronald D. Moore, Kasidy's Maquis affiliation had not been planned when the character debuted the previous Season. It was instead pitched by a freelancer writer.
