Trivia / St John Passion

• Creator Backlash: Andrew Mahon, who sang in Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment for the Peter Sellars production of St John Passion, later wrote an opinion piece in The Spectator criticising Sellars' interpretation as "deeply flawed".
• Filmed Stage Production: The 2014 Berliner Philharmoniker production, conducted by Simon Rattle and staged by Peter Sellars, has been filmed for release via home media and streaming services. This version is closer to opera than oratorio, adding dramatisation and some costumes and props to the music.
