Trivia / 7 Days (2021)

Go To

  • Christmas Rushed: The film had about a month to be written and filmed for the Deadly Numbers deadline.
  • Dawson Casting: Callum, Rosie and Ray have just graduated high school. Greg Young and Jake Hyland were 20note , Dana Lee Al Qattan was 22.
  • Directed by Cast Member: Greg Young directed the film and played Callum.
  • Orphaned Reference: The "I can't believe he's gone" exchange between Callum and Rosie references Ray's original fate (see below).
  • Production Posse: Zac Goold directed Greg Young in What I Stand For, and acted as cinematographer here. Robert Madden, DP of WISF, also worked on this. All three of them had worked with Dana Lee Al Qattan on Undefeated. Sean Brien - with whom Greg Young had worked on Takbir and Scarlet - was the editor. Jake Hyland had previously starred in Greg Young's first short Better Paths.
  • Throw It In!:
    • The amount of bottles and debris on the set for the party were mostly already there when they arrived. Greg Young recalls his DP seeing the place and saying "I appreciate your effort but you did not need to drink this much."
    • Dana Lee Al Qattan ad-libbed hitting Jake Hyland on the ass with the sword, as well as the "try me, bitch" line.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • An early idea for the seven concept was a story based around the Seven Deadly Sins. That was dropped to cut down on the amount of actors required.
    • Anthony O'Reilly Jr, actor, filmmaker and host of The Alright Podcast, auditioned for Ray - but was deemed too old to convincingly play a high school graduate.
    • The original script had a fourth character called Jade, making it a Gender-Equal Ensemble. She would flee town and never be seen again.
    • There were supposed to be scenes involving Callum's family, and him talking to police, that were cut to streamline the story.
    • Ray was originally going to slit his throat in the end montage, but this wasn't included. Word of God is that it would have interfered with a stylistic choice to show only one scene from each of the seven days.
    • The first draft amped up the supernatural elements, making it clear there was a curse of some kind on the victims, and that Rosie's ghost actually was talking to Callum. It's Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane in the finished film.
  • You Look Familiar: Greg Young and Dana Lee Al Qattan also appear in Disembodied Hitman in the Deadly Numbers anthology.
