Trivia / Sandy & Junior

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Sandy in the video for "Desperdiçou", in which she portrays a blonde news anchorwoman and a brunette reporter.
    • She also does this in the TV show, specifically during the episode "Sandy e a Revolta das Máquinas".
  • Black Sheep Hit: "Maria Chiquinha" (the very first song they recorded) is one of their few songs which didn't include vocal harmony, but only Vocal Tag Team instead.
  • Breakup Breakout: After they disbanded, Sandy has continued to make music, now on her own and with a more folksy sound, and has remained a mainstream name. Meanwhile, Junior remained more obscure, hopping from project to project as a musician before the creation of the Pipocando Música channel on Youtube.
  • The Danza: Both of them on the homonymous TV show (justified as they were playing themselves), and Junior on O Noviço Rebelde.
  • Dawson Casting: The TV show averted this, as vast majority of the teenage cast was played by actual teenagers, with Paulo Vilhena as Gustavo being the only major exception.
  • Demand Overload: The Nossa História tour has been hit hard with this. Originally, only ten shows were planned, but more dates were added due to the tickets selling like hotcakes. They even had to change the venue of the Brasília dates due to the overwhelming demand!
  • Fandom Life Cycle: Has entered Stage X thanks to the Nossa História tour.
  • Follow the Leader: Following the immense success of Sandy & Junior, it became a common occurrence for children of sertanejo singers to launch their own music careers, as was the case with Wanessa, daughter of Zezé di Camargo, and Pedro & Thiago, a duo of cousins who are the sons of, respectively, Leonardo and his late brother/partner Leandro.
  • Reunion Show: The upcoming Nossa História tour, which also counts as a Milestone Celebration, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the TV performance that launched their career.
  • Reality Subtext: Sandy's then-boyfriend and future husband Lucas appeared on one episode of the first season of the Sandy & Junior TV show as an angel named Gabriel, who strikes up a romance with her, but ultimately chooses to go back to Heaven due to the many other people that need him.
  • Real Song Theme Tune: Their song "Era Uma Vez" (which is a collaboration with Toquinho) was used as the opening theme of a Rede Globo Soap Opera of the same name.
  • Romance on the Set: After one of her first break-ups with Lucas, Sandy briefly dated actor Paulo Vilhena, who was one of her co-stars on the TV series. Junior was also romantically linked to Daniele Suzuki, who joined the show as his In-Universe love interest during the fourth season.
  • Throw It In!: During the TV special, when the duo is performing "Não Ter", Sandy's arm accidentally hits Junior on the face, and she turns back to the camera giggling sheepishly at this. This was kept in the final cut.
