Trivia / Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July

Go To

  • Acting for Two:
    • In addition to reprising his role as Jack Frost, Paul Frees voices Winterbolt, the keeper of the Cave of the Lost Rejections and Officer Kelly.
    • Sam Spangles, Donner, the circus clowns and Santa's cuckoo clock are voiced by Don Messick.
  • Non-Singing Voice: While Mickey Rooney once again provides the voice for Santa Claus, his singing voice is provided by Bob McFadden (which is odd, because Rooney had done Santa's singing voice in his prior two appearances).
  • The Other Darrin: Given the TV special was recorded in Los Angeles instead of Toronto as was the case for the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer 1964 TV special, Don Messick and Cynthia Adler replaced Paul Kligman and Peg Dixon as the voices of Donner and Mrs. Donner respectively.
  • Prop Recycling: Several examples:
    • The Rudolph and Big Ben puppets were reused from Rudolph's Shiny New Year.
    • The Santa puppet was reused from The Year Without a Santa Claus and Rudolph's Shiny New Year.
    • One of the elves seen is Jingle from The Year Without a Santa Claus
    • The generic reindeer puppets were used in several prior specials.
  • Swan Song: This is the final time Billie Mae Richards and Jackie Vernon voiced Rudolph and Frosty respectively in a Rankin/Bass production. Alongside being the final animated appearance of the Rankin-Bass incarnation of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman. Richards continued her voice acting career up until the Turn of the Millennium, while Vernon retired from acting not long after the film's release.
  • Unspecified Role Credit: In the opening credits, the special's voice actors are listed alphabetically with no attached roles.
  • You Sound Familiar: Paul Frees, who voiced Santa Claus in the original Frosty the Snowman and a few other Rankin/Bass specials, here voices the villainous Winterbolt who wants to usurp Santa.
