Fridge / Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July

SPOILERS

Fridge Brilliance

  • When Santa and Mrs. Claus are packing for their trip, Santa remarks that he's not always the easiest man to live with, and Mrs. Claus fondly replies that this is only true around Christmas Eve. These remarks help to explain Santa's grumpy behavior back in the original Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964), and his depression in The Year Without a Santa Claus. Kind and jolly though he is by nature, the stress of his very demanding job sometimes gets to him as the big night draws near, leading to those temporary bouts of moodiness.
  • Rudolph calls Frosty his "best friend" in this special. This might seem like a stretch, since this special is the first time we've ever seen them interact, and Rudolph already has two good friends from his original special, Hermey and Yukon Cornelius, who don't get so much as a mention here. But maybe it does make sense. As of the original special's end, both Hermey and Yukon Cornelius have full-time jobs – Hermey as the North Pole's dentist, Yukon as a prospector – so they probably don't have as much time to hang out with Rudolph as they would like. It makes sense that Rudolph, who only works one night a year, should end up spending more time with Frosty and his family, who don't seem to have jobs at all.
