Trivia / Riddick

Go To

  • Deleted Scene: There was a scene removed from the theatrical version that continues after Riddick escapes the planet where he goes back to the Necromongers to find that it was Krone who really betrayed him, and Vaako has crossed into the Underverse.
  • Doing It for the Art: Vin Diesel was willing to receive a cut on his check and even put a leverage on his house just to get this movie made.
  • Reality Subtext: The relationship between Riddick and the desert dog he adopts was made to reflect Vin's relationship with his own dog Roman.
  • Refitted for Sequel: The writers originally wanted the alien dog that Riddick befriended on Crematoria to tag along with him for the rest of the movie. But this was quickly exercised once they realised there was no way to do it within budget and, thanks to 10 years worth of improvements to CG, the concept was instead successfully reworked for this one.
  • Underage Casting: Boss Johns is meant to be the father of William J. Johns from Pitch Black, but Matt Nable was only 3 years older than Cole Hauser and at the time of the film's release was only 41 years old.
  • Working Title: The Chronicles of Riddick: Dead Man Stalking.
