• Creator's Favorite Episode: Chris Barrie named this as one of his favourites.
• The Danza: Gordon Salkilld as Gordon the computer. The role was created with him in mind.
• Edited for Syndication: In a 2012 repeat, the shot of Lister and Cat Flipping the Bird at Rimmer, and a few frames of the Outland Revenue man smashing Rimmer's hand with a hammer were cut.
• Technology Marches On: Three million years in the future and VHS tapes are still being used. This would eventually be lampshaded many years later in Back to Earth.
• Troubled Production: The location shoot on the beach was an absolute nightmare due to bad weather making the "sunny and idyllic" location look utterly miserable. The script was hurriedly rewritten to move several scenes originally planned for the beach to a golf course instead.
