• Dueling Movies: With the 90s Gamera trilogy.
• Recycled Script: The skeleton of the movie's plot came from the script of the unmade 1990 film, "Mothra vs. Bagan". While changes were made, many elements were carried over with Death Ghidorah filling Bagan's role.
• What Could Have Been: An early version of the story had Megalon as the antagonistic monster, seeking revenge against humanity for their crimes against nature.
