Trivia / Pokémon Legends: Arceus

  • Content Leak:
    • In the hours prior to the game's official announcement on February 26th, 2021, both the titles of the Diamond and Pearl remakes and Legends' existence were leaked.
    • Ten days before the game's official launch, multiple copies surfaced on auction sites, and its files were swiftly dumped.
  • Defictionalization: Unsurprisingly, an actual phone case was produced as merch for the game so that you can have an Arc Phone of your very own!
  • Distanced from Current Events: This game, along with the simultaneously developed Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, both removed Pokérus from the game. This was likely due to being developed during COVID-19, which caused the idea of spreading a virus intentionally for beneficial reasons to be upsettingly close to real life "herd immunity" tactics. Oddly, it is still present in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, likely for consistency with the originals, and transferred Pokémon with Pokérus still gain double EVs, unlike in Scarlet and Violet.
  • Dummied Out: Abilities are listed in the game, but are not implemented as a battle mechanism. At best they give you an idea what abilities the new Pokémon might have when they become usable in a normal battle system.
  • Fandom Nod: It was long speculated that the Stat Trainer Mira had some relation to the Pokémon Center Lady as both had similar hairstyles. Mira's Hisuian counterpart, Pesselle, is an adult nurse.
  • God Never Said That:
    • Much like Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, some fans refer to this game as a spin-off, despite the fact that it is officially considered to be a mainline entry in the franchise.
    • It's commonly stated that Legends: Arceus started life as a proper Pokémon Diamond and Pearl remake until Game Freak realized they had strayed away too far from the original games, so they decided to farm Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl out to ILCA while continuing to work on Legends: Arecus as an original title. Though PLA did enter development in late 2018, while BDSP only began development in early 2020, this reasoning has never been confirmed by official sources.
  • Refitted for Sequel: The infamous unreleased Azure Flute from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl is finally usable officially. The event associated to it is also the same as the one in Diamond and Pearl, except that it's tied to a story event, not a mystery gift.
    • And in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, the Azure Flute can be obtained by having a completed save file from Legends Arceus on your Switch, allowing the original Arceus event to be accessible at long last.
