- B-Team Sequel: Most of the Picross games are made by Jupiter Corporation, but Picross 3D and Picross 3D Round 2 were instead developed by HAL Laboratory.
- Divorced Installment: The original games were Super Mario Bros. spinoffs, but since DS the series has been its own thing. That said, the series never incorporated much of the Mario series in the first place with very few Mario puzzles.
- Keep Circulating the Tapes: The Picross e series on Nintendo 3DS are no longer available for purchase due to the 3DS eShop going out of service. However, they were rescued with the release of Picross S+, which ports all nine games to Nintendo Switch.
- No Export for You: Super Picross was eventually released in Europe and Australia via the Wii's Virtual Console service and Nintendo Switch Online worldwide (although with the game still in Japanese), but Picross 2 and Picross NP were only in Japan.
- Remade for the Export: The original 3DS version of Picross e9 oddly never made it out of Japan, even though all the other Picross e installments did. It finally saw a Western release as part of Picross S+ in 2024 on the Nintendo Switch.
- What Could Have Been: The 3DS was not the first console they considered making a Pokémon version of Picross on. The ROM of this cancelled Game Boy entry has been leaked in September 10, 2020.
