Trivia / @onefive

Go To

  • Cunning Linguist: 3 of the 4 members have openly expressed a desire to be one (SOYO is the odd one out).
    • KANO, possibly due to hanging around Babymetal in 2019 – Suzuka and Moa have both become rather proficient in English and fellow ex-Avenger Riho Sayashi is even better due to living in New York for awhile – has stated that her goal is to become fluent in English. Given her infamous history as a "Genius", she's got her work cut out for her, but she tries.
    • GUMI decided her approach would be to use the group's blog to write her messages entirely in English. She makes the occasional ESL grammar mistake but it's easy to understand her anyway. However, she rarely if ever speaks English on-camera, due in large part (according to her) to her shyness.
    • MOMO, possibly an actual genius, used English semi-regularly towards the end of her tenure in Sakura Gakuin, including singing her final a capella in English. During @onefive livestreams, she will often respond to English messages in English, although she is also shy about it – in her case due to a publicly-stated tendency towards perfectionism. She has also said she wants to learn a third language though has not said what that might be.
  • Directed by Cast Member: Or, more correctly, Edited by Cast Member. KANO has editing credit for at least two of their music videos. She also takes a majority of the non-professional photographs for their social media, and is the only member seen using an actual camera rather than a cellphone. Yes, she has taken a selfie by pointing her camera into a mirror.
  • No Budget: Their second music video, "Mada Minu Sekai", came at the height of the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic when Japan was in near-total lockdown (and largely avoided said wave). So the girls, unable to record together, filmed themselves at their homes and sent the footage to producers to make something workable. They were pleased with the result.
    • Their normal music videos tend to have minimal budgets anyway as they remain a fairly new young group without the track record of a Perfume (whose earliest MV's were also cheap) or Babymetal (ditto) or Sakura Gakuin (the videos from their first year had almost negative budget).
  • They Also Did: As noted on the main page, all four were cast as members of the fictional Idol group ChamJam for the 2022 live-action adaptation of If My Favorite Pop Idol Made It to the Budokan, I Would Die. But even before that happened…
    • SOYO has been a working model since even before joining Sakura Gakuin and did not stop when @onefive became a thing. From at least 2018 until her "graduation" in March 2021, she was a mainstay for teenage clothing line Repipi.
    • MOMO had a few onscreen acting roles before joining Sakura Gakuin – including one written by SG's "teacher" Hayashi Mori (which he mentioned upon her debut in the group) – and was also the little girl in Perfume's music video "Cling Cling". However, she was 8 at most during filming and has said she doesn't remember much about it.
    • GUMI once starred in commercials for Sanrio products.
    • KANO performed as one of Babymetal's officially-nameless backup dancers ("Avengers") during the group's Japan shows pre-Covid – she can be seen on the "PAPAYA!", "Elevator Girl", and "Shanti Shanti Shanti" videos. However, she has not been part of any Babymetal shows since January 2020. note
      • Kano also costarred in the kids' show It's BitWorld! for a couple years while in Sakura Gakuin.
      • Later still, Kano made regular appearances on the TV show Super Invincible Class alongside fellow SG member Yume Nozaki (who adores Kano).
  • Similarly Named Works: Honey Popcorn's 2018 debut single is titled "Bibidi Babidi Boo", which is what "BBB" stands for. Of course, the phrase originally came from Disney's Cinderella.
  • Spiritual Successor: There has been a lot of speculation that @onefive is intended to be this to Perfume if or when the latter choose to retire. Although their musical style is very different from what Yasutaka Nakata creates for Perfume, there are some under-the-hood similarities – members are about the same age and met in elementary school, formed a group within a group in junior high, one person composes all their music, they make heavy use of autotune despite being known as good singers, a nod towards fashion, extremely precise dancing courtesy of instruction by Mikiko-sensei and her disciples. Plus these four danced onstage with Perfume (as part of Sakura Gakuin) in June 2017.
