- Creator-Driven Successor: This game continues the spirit of Wii Sports, since both games are fun and lighthearted games that show off the capabilities of their consoles. The main difference is that the former is Nintendo franchise-themed.
- Defictionalization: Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios manifested the idea of a Nintendo theme park in real life.
- Keep Circulating the Tapes: Being one of the several Wii U games to not have a Switch port, Nintendo Land cannot be bought digitally anymore following the closure of the Wii U eShop in 2023. While a lot of physical copies are thankfully being sold at cheap prices, the Wii U has been discontinued in 2016/2017, meaning that people with no emulation access are out of luck. Furthermore, a port of the game seems very unlikely, as all of the minigames heavily rely on the Wii U gamepad in order for them to work properly.
- Marth Debuted in "Smash Bros.": Takamaru's Ninja Castle is based on The Mysterious Murasame Castle, an FDS game that was not released outside Japan until two years after Nintendo Land's release on the 3DS Virtual Console.
- Production Lead Time: The game released just a week after Animal Crossing: New Leaf, so Animal Crossing: Sweet Day is largely based on Animal Crossing: City Folk, which was the latest game in the series as it was being developed.
