  • Awesome, Dear Boy: John Larroquette was considering retirement when Melissa Rauch called, asking him to join the project. He was hesitant at first, but Rauch's promises that the original series' spirit would be kept while Dan would undergo Character Development intrigued him enough to sign on.
  • The Character Died with Him:
    • When Abby meets Dan Fielding for the first time during the pilot, he gives her condolences on her father's death, meaning Harry Stone passed away sometime during the 30 year gap between series due to Harry Anderson's death in 2018.
    • It's later confirmed that the character of Christine Sullivan has died as well (Markie Post having passed away in 2021).
  • Dawson Casting: Melissa Rauch, born in 1982, plays a character who mathematically couldn't have been born earlier than 1992.
  • Fake American: The British India de Beaufort as ADA Olivia Moore.
  • Money, Dear Boy: John Larroquette has mentioned that a very lucrative offer to come back as Dan Fielding was part of his motivation to return.
  • Out of Order: The first season's episodes were reshuffled. Namely, the tenth episode was supposed to come two episodes after the fourteenth episode, and this changed the context of Abby's arc regarding her relationship to Rand.
  • Produced by Cast Member: John Larroquette also serves as a producer for the series, while Melissa Rauch is an executive producer.
  • Role Reprise:
    • John Larroquette (Dan Fielding) is the only surviving main cast member from the original series to return as a regular. Marsha Warfield returned as Roz in the first season finale, and as a recurring character in season 2note . Meanwhile, Richard Moll categorically ruled out ever returning as Bull, before passing on in October 2023.
    • Brent Spiner and Annie O'Donnell returned as the Wheelers in Season 2.
  • Scully Box: Melissa Rauch is 4' 11" and wears high-heels with thick soles to try and bridge the height gap between herself and her co-stars. However, this doesn't do much when she's standing next to the 6' 4.5" John Larroquette.
  • Sequel Gap: The original Night Court series ended in 1992 after nine seasons. The Sequel Series premiered on January 17, 2023, more than thirty years after the original show's finale.
