Nazo Unleashed

Wrath of Nazo

  • Flip-Flop of God: Originally, Chakra-X didn't want to make a sequel because he wanted to move on to original works. However, he eventually decided to go through with it as a thank you to his fans who stuck with him over the years.
  • The Other Darrin: Rather than ripping game audio like he did with the original trilogy, Chakra-X stated that he wanted actual voice actors making new lines for the sequel, so he could better tell a story without the obvious sampled and recut dialogue and voice clips limiting him. As a result, the characters all have completely different voice actors that emulated the voice cast of Sonic franchise in the mid-to-late-2010s and early-2020s as opposed to the Adventure-era cast in the early-2000s. Some actors were also replaced before the official premiere of the 3-part animatic.
    • Sonic the Hedgehog was first voiced by SpiritOfTheBlue in the voice actor reveal video and teaser trailer. The final product saw him being voiced by Nathan Morrison.
    • Shadow the Hedgehog is voiced by Connor McKinley.
    • Miles "Tails" Prower was first voiced by Theblueeyedfox in the voice actor reveal video and teaser trailer. The final product has him voiced by Kn of SonicSong182.
    • Knuckles the Echidna is voiced by Mick D. Wilson.
    • Dr. Eggman is voiced by Kyle Boyle.
  • Promoted Fanboy: Nathan Morrison was a huge fan of the original animated series, and once did a fandub of the initial teaser trailer before being casted as Sonic the Hedgehog in Wrath of Nazo.
  • Role Reprise:
    • Omahdon/Edwyn Tiong reprises his role as Nazo after first playing him in Nazo Unleashed (2008). Chakra-X was originally going to cast another actor during the audition process, but since Tiong re-auditioned for the role, he was brought back to voice him again. Tiong previously voiced the character as part of an unofficial sequel, The Return of Nazo, but Wrath of Nazo was the first time he returned to doing the character's voice as an official continuation from Chakra-X. Tiong would then play Nazo in other fanmade projects like Mecha Sonic vs. Nazo by Rewind Rumble. While Tiong was confirmed to be playing the character in in 2015, it took until 2023 for the project to release its first part.
    • Mick D. Wilson, Connor McKinley, and Kyle Boyle reprised as their characters from the initial voice actor reveal and teaser trailer (first confirmed in 2015) for the official premiere of the 3-part animatic in 2023, while others were replaced.
  • Schedule Slip: Chakra-X initially intended for The Wrath of Nazo to be released in 2019, but after the script ended up running longer than expected, he decided to release only the first two-thirds in 2019. This didn't happen, and by July 2022, when the project was finally cancelled, nothing more had been shown of it. The first part was finally uploaded to YouTube on December 27, 2023 in an incomplete animatic form.
  • Sequel Gap: The original Nazo Unleashed animation concluded at three parts, with the third part being released in 2007. The sequel, Wrath of Nazo, wouldn't be released until December 27, 2023, a full 16 years later, after a period of troubled development that started around 2014-2015.
