San Antonio is NOT north of Austin

* CaliforniaDoubling: The first movie was entirely filmed in Austin, Texas, despite starting in New York (to make for a more convincing street, Austin had brown plastic bags of fake trash and fake NYC taxi cabs). The pageant takes place in San Antonio, roughly 80 miles (129 km) north of Austin, and some pageant preliminary scenes were shot at the Arneson River Theater in downtown San Antonio. The second is mostly on location, except for a New York scene which clearly has a UsefulNotes/LasVegas hotel in the background.

Added DiffLines:

* TalentDouble: Heather Burns is replaced by a professional for the fire batons scene, understandably so given that they are ''fire batons''.

* ActorAllusion: William Shatner does a spoken word version of the Miss United States song, which references his infamous spoken word cover versions of various songs.

* TheCastShowoff: The contestant actresses are actually doing the talent tricks -- except for Cheryl with the fire batons. Heather Burns was willing to learn how to twirl, but not to expose herself to flames (a professional replaces her).

Names The Same is no longer a trope

* NamesTheSame: The first movie features Eric Matthews who shares a name with the Series/BoyMeetsWorld character which ended its seven season run months before the first movie was released
** Tomboy agent Sam Fuller from the sequel is also the same name as a film director.

Moved Unintentional Period Piece to the YMMV tab.

* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: The second film's climax takes place during the "Battle at Buccaneer Bay"--a nightly show that occurred at the Treasure Island Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas from 1993 to 2003. That show has since been replaced by the "Sirens of TI" (to further reinforce this trope, this film came out in March 2005), which also lasted for a decade before that show closed to make way for a Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. exhibit.
