For the Videogame:

  • Creator's Oddball: Much like with the Kane & Lynch series, this is a very odd genre for IO Interactive to make a game for. For one thing, none of their prior games were Hack'n'Slash, none of their prior games were aimed towards kids (the direct inverse of their usual teen to adult demographics), and none of their other games have a cartoon aesthetic. In fact, the only thing that remains from their other projects is the Blending-In Stealth Gameplay made famous in their Hitman franchise (in this case, taking control of animals as Hiro, and later; posing as a mini samurai to get past large samurai's), while also showcasing the Stealth Grass and what would become the Point Shooting feature three years prior to Hitman: Absolution coming out. It's a stealth game crossed with a hack'n'slash game, and yet, it works surprisingly well.
  • Sleeper Hit: It's rated fairly well on Metacritic (the average rating is 74), with some reviewers pointing out its simplicity being one of the few flaws it has. Otherwise, it's a solid game many remember fondly, but never really caught on. That said, IO Interactive are not shy in referencing it, with Hitman (2016) having a load of references to it via achievements and easter eggs (especially in Hokkaido) the "Futo Suit" (based on the one Futo wears in the game, minus the gut), and on the IOI Monthly streams they had a canvas of the game in center-frame.
  • So My Kids Can Watch: IO Interactive often stated in interviews that they came up with the game out of a desire to make something that they could "play with their kids". This reached a logical endpoint, as it was actually turned into an animated series in 2015.

For the Animated Series:

  • Production Posse: The voice actors in the English Dub is basically a semi-reunion of the cast of Code Lyoko; Barbara Weber Scaff (Ulrich) voices Hiro, Christine Flowers (Sissi) voices Shoko, while Matthew Géczy (Odd) voices Futo.
  • Schedule Slip: Amazon's picture for the series states that "Season 2 is coming soon!". As of writing, it has been six years, and nothing has come of it.
