• Beam Me Up, Scotty!: Mike Love's infamous "Don't fuck with the formula" quote has no proof of being said by Mike himself. A Rolling Stone journalist reported in 1971 the tensions between Mike Love and David Anderle during the recording of SMiLE and it is more likely that this quote is just a summary of what Mike thought about the project in general (Anderle himself said that this line was taken out of contest and Brian Wilson testified that he never heard it). Mike denied the quote and argued that The Beach Boys never had a formula to begin with.
